Van Loveren has been in the Retief family since 1937 when Hennie Retief acquired the vineyards in Robertson Valley and named it after Christina van Loveren,an ancestor of his young bride, Jean van Zyl.

A major milestone was reached in 1980 with the launch of the Van Loveren brand with 500 cases of wine. From this very beginning, Van Loveren has grown into the largest, leading family estate in South Africa. Their dream of making quality wines for every taste and occasion has hereby succeeded beautifully!

A brilliant example is this sublime and spicy wine made from 100% Pinotage grape with 4 months aging in oak barrels. It possesses fantastic nose and lively flavour aromas of red and black fruits (plums, berries,blackberries) combined with expressions of chocolate, mocha and coffee. This is an excellent wine where you taste South Africa in the glass!

Delicious with meat dishes and stews. Also highly recommended with spare ribs.
